Directions

From Café zum Paradies, follow the U1,8 sign for 1 km and after 400 m you'll reach the Mühlenkopfschanze, the impressive large ski jump in the Stryck Valley. From the outrun, look up to the inrun tower, which is 120 m higher. Continue towards Schöne Aussicht, then turn right over the Itter River and return on the other side of the stream. From here, follow the W1 sign to the starting point (1,6 km towards Stryck).
The rare ravine forest on the left is designated as the Grebensteine Nature Reserve. It features distinctive primeval forest-like vegetation. Because of the large boulders, the area is also known as the Blockhaldenwald (block dump forest). Large-leaved linden trees, wych elms, and sycamore maples grow on rocks of gray clay slate, through which numerous springs trickle. The high humidity and low temperatures create a montane climate in which alpine plants also thrive in the herbaceous layer. Large stands of perennial silverweed (Mondviolet) can be found here, as well as daphne, alpine currant, St. John's wort, snowflake, hollow larkspur, scaly avens, lobed shield fern, white butterbur, and alpine witchweed. To protect this sensitive natural environment, please do not leave the hiking trail.
Afterwards you pass the Mühlenkopfschanze again and continue to the starting point.
