The old walls seem as if they could tell stories: of the rough limestone from which they were once hewn, of the chants of the monks, and of the excesses of some abbots.
They witnessed the power struggles of bailiffs and counts around Flechtdorf Monastery, heard the curses of the mercenaries in the Thirty Years' War and the groans of the sick when the monastery became a hospital.
Later, they framed prayers for peace, until more recently an association was formed that maintains the light grey walls and fills them with new life.
All these stories seem to be preserved by the stones – for those who linger and listen. Read on. >>here continue.
