Korbach Its well-preserved old town boasts many half-timbered buildings, two Gothic hall churches, and stone warehouses from the Hanseatic period. Among the sights worth seeing are St. Kilian's Church with its richly sculpted south portal, the late Gothic St. Nicholas Church, and the award-winning Wolfgang Bonhage Museum Korbach. Or start at the important fossil site "Korbacher Spalte“ an expedition into the history of the earth, as Korbach was still close to the equator and the oldest ancestors of mammals and dinosaurs populated the earth.
The black-marked access path leads you through the old town, and later through meadows and fields, to the Eisenberg. At the Eisenberg, with the Goldhausen visitor mine, the castle ruins, and the Georg-Viktor observation tower offering fantastic panoramic views, lies the eastern starting point of the Sauerland-Höhenflug trail. This is where the over 250-kilometer-long long-distance hiking trail begins or ends.
