Through the world natural heritage

The hiker follows the mushroom symbol through the Hardt and the Hundsbachgrund around the Ringelsberg. The old beech forests, natural log forests and stream gorges are among the exclusive features of the national park. Only rarely, but then spectacularly, are there views of the protected area's forest sea and the Edersee.

Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.

safety instructions

The forests in the national park are not used for forestry purposes. Old trees and those at risk of breakage will not be removed. Trees can tip over and branches fall onto the paths. Visiting the national park and using all paths is therefore at your own risk! Please do not go into the forest in strong winds, heavy rain or snowfall.

This disturbs nature

Our natural heritage is protected in the national park. People are guests here. Nature requires special consideration. Therefore, please observe the behavioral instructions.

Nature is severely disturbed by the following actions:

  4. Do not carelessly dispose of empty cans, bottles and other rubbish in the landscape
  5. Do not pick plants
  6. Do not light fires in the national park

Way markings

You can reach the special features of the national park via the marked hiking trails. Circular trails from the national park's hiking car parks are marked with animal or plant symbols. There are “sign trees” with place names at selected crossroads. They are landmarks for the hiker.

Rescue points

The official rescue points (e.g. KB-426) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site in the national park. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point. Unfortunately, the cell phone network is not comprehensive.
