Mühlenberg Circular Trail 2 - Hiking between Edersee and Itter

Circular Trail 2 takes us around the 11 m high Mühlberg mountain for approximately 450 km. We first walk along the Kellerwaldsteig trail toward Fürstenberg. An old boundary stone marks the former Fürstenkirche church, where the ruins can be seen. Before reaching Fürstenberg, we turn off and eventually reach the Lichtenfels Panorama Trail. Following this trail, we come across an idyllic stream valley. The path through the side valley is lined with meadows and leads us down to the Itter River. Finally, we reach the reservoir head of the Edersee and return to the hiking car park.

In Herzhausen, not far from the Mühlenberg hiking car park, is the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park Center. Here, we learn fascinating information about the national park and also have the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat in the adjacent café.
