A family-friendly farm tour marked with the cow Helma. Stops and rest areas along the way.

A 6 km long themed trail on the topics of milk and agriculture. Fresh country air, fresh milk, and original interactive stations ensure a successful family outing. Simply pick up the quiz sheet at the Tourist Information Center and receive a refreshing prize at the finish. Using the stamp pass app, Helma the cow asks questions digitally. Children learn how many liters a cow drinks daily, ring cowbells at the Diemel spring, and throw spruce cones through the holes in a cheese tarp. Short films about agriculture are shown in the hay barn cinema. A telescope station, photo point, and cowpat trampoline are further highlights. Those who need a break along the way can stop at the Graf Stolberg Hut or the Pön Hut for a sweet or savory treat, or take advantage of one of the shelters and rest areas along the trail. Finally, the tour concludes with a visit to the Muhseumscafé at the Upländer Bauernmolkerei (Upland Farmers' Dairy), where visitors discover historical, fascinating, and delicious facts about milk.

During the winter season, the technical installations at individual stations are dismantled due to weather conditions.

Directions

The Usseln Milk Adventure Trail starts at the Tourist Information in Usseln, Sportstrasse 7. If you haven't yet downloaded the accompanying quiz sheet from the internet, you can pick it up at the Tourist Information.
The trail leads along the Diemel River past the former Usseln ski jump. Those who wish can take the small parallel hiking trails through the Lohwald forest back to the hiking trail. We now come to the so-called Ententeich (Duck Pond), where there is a beautifully situated playground for a short break. We continue on the paved path to the first interactive station, the water play station at the Pön Hütte (Pön Hut). The Pön Hütte is located next to the Usseln ski lift, which is only in operation when there is sufficient natural snow. From here, we head to the Diemelquelle (source of the Diemel River).
Now comes a somewhat long climb. But you can do it! Once you reach the top, turn left onto a wonderful little trail to the Diemelquelle spring. Here you can ring the cowbells loudly! Now it's a short climb again. But there's a short break, because at the next station you can collect spruce cones and throw them through the cheese hole!
Now it's just a few meters to the Graf Stolberg Hut. Here, you and your parents can take a longer break. With a wonderful view, you can watch great short films about agriculture in the Heustadl cinema. After the Graf Stolberg Hut, the path leads us left onto the Panorama Pönweg. To answer the quiz, count the cows or cattle through the telescope at the next station. You'll soon cross the ski lift run and, in August, you can pick some delicious blueberries along the way. "Kronoggen" is what we call them in Low German. At the end of the Panoramaweg, there's a photo station where you can take a great selfie!
Before you descend to the Upland Farmers' Dairy, you can have one last good jump on the cow pat trampoline. About another kilometer downhill and you'll reach the end of the trail. At the Upland Farmers' Dairy, you can pick up a refreshing prize upon handing in your quiz. Either the organic food store or the Milchmuhseumscafé will be open, where you can discover historical facts about milk.
Have fun on our varied themed trail all about agriculture and milk!
