With a length of 69 km (excluding the Lichtenfels-Fürstenberg hiking car park connection), the “Quality Trail Hiking Germany” can be hiked in three or more stages. It connects all eight districts and leads, among other things, over the heights of the Eschenberg near Goldhausen and the Griechenkopf near Dalwigksthal.
It offers prospects for Korbach, the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park, the Rothaargebirge Mountains, and leads through the wild and romantic valleys of the Heimbach, Orke, Aar, and Nuhne rivers. Other sights along the way include Reckenberg Castle, a small footbridge over the Orke River, an "Alpine Path," and Lichtenfels Castle.
The tranquil town of Lichtenfels with its districts of Dalwigksthal, Fürstenberg, Goddelsheim, Immighausen, Münden, Neukirchen, Rhadern and Sachsenberg is nestled in the low mountain range of the “Waldeckische Schweiz” and lies between the towns Korbach, Frankenberg and Medebach at the foothills of the Rothaargebirge in the west (Sauerland), the Waldecker Upland in the northwest and the holiday regions Kellerwald-Edersee and Burgwald in a southeasterly direction. To the northeast, it borders the Itter Valley, to the east the Eder Valley, behind which rises the Kellerwald forest, and to the south the Nuhne Valley.

Tip for the smartphone - Download the "NVV Mobil" app in the respective app store before the tour!
In general it should "AST-Taxi" (call shared taxi) be included in the planning. With the call-to-collect taxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in such high demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.

Our tip
The Lichtenfels Panorama Trail does not lead directly past Lichtenfels Castle. The “castle path” is a suitable connecting route, on which you can easily reach the castle. Both are part of the alternative route (marked “green L”). In combination with the main route, a circular path is created that is approx. 9 km long and 200 m in altitude.
safety instructions
The Lichtenfels Panorama Trail leads through shady forests and open terrain. Occasionally trees may have toppled over and branches may have fallen onto the path. Use of the Lichtenfels Panorama Trail is at your own risk. You should not walk the Lichtenfels Panorama Trail in strong winds, heavy rain or snowfall.
The official rescue points (e.g. KB-240 or HSK 1350) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point.
Unfortunately, the cell phone network is not comprehensive for internet reception.
Due to felling work and drought damage to the trees, there are currently brief closures. Current information on the situation for the entire region is available on the homepage Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park apparent.
