The Red Bird Trail is part of Willingen's MTB trails for children. These trails are so well connected and signposted that parents and children can decide which route they want to take and how long the route should be during the tour.
Important: These difficulty profiles are only guidelines – they can, of course, vary from child to child. Children should not ride alone here. Mountain bikes are required in all cases. Riding the trails is at your own risk. Sometimes hikers or even motorized traffic may share the same paths.

Directions
Shortly after the refuge, the red bird leads us to the right over the Hochheide nature reserve "Neuer Hagen." At the end of the heathland, the path returns to a paved path, and here, on the left, is the Hochheide Hut, which offers a magnificent view of the Hochsauerland region. If you don't want to take a break, follow the red bird to the right to Langenberg, the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia. After reaching the highest point, we take a gentle descent along the Langenberg. On this descent, we cross the Sonnenlift and have a wonderful view of WillingenThe next lift is a bit steeper down into the valley. Here, the brakes should be working properly, and the children should be made aware that there might be hikers along the way and that they should adjust their pace accordingly.
