In the footsteps of the Huguenots and Waldensians

The Huguenot and Waldensian Trail stretches across Germany for around 1200 km (including loops), and part of it also runs through the Reinhardswald Nature Park.

After starting at the Swiss border, it heads north. In the Taunus region, the trail passes through several towns, meets the Lahn River, and then continues through the Hessian hinterland to Marburg. From here, the trail continues north through the Burgwald, the Kellerwald and the northern Hessian mountains to the northern terminus Bad Karlshafen.

A good part of the 175 km long final stage of the route leads through the picturesque landscape of the Grimm homeland of North Hesse and, between Bad Karlshafen and Hofgeismar, partly through the fairytale Reinhardswald Nature Park.

The Huguenot and Waldensian Trail is part of the Council of Europe's Cultural Routes program ( http://culture-routes.net ). The program aims to make the experiential value of the shared cultural space of "Europe" more visible, valuable, and vibrant. This includes promoting sustainable cultural tourism.

The entire route in Germany is marked and signposted.
