The symbol of the large-flowered foxglove leads to the gnarled oak and beech forests of Hagenstein. The unique view from the “Loreley of the Edertal” is an experience. The route goes back over the charming plateau of the “Himmelsbreite”. Nascent wilderness accompanies the hiker on the Brückengrundsteig, a path through a windthrow.
An accompanying brochure is available from the National Park facilities or can be downloaded, see links.
Alternative entrances for this circular route:
- National park entrance and “Kirchlotheim” car park in Vöhl-Kirchlotheim
- National park entrance and “Himmelsbreite” car park near Vöhl-Harbshausen
Please note: The Hagenstein viewing platform is currently only accessible by electric scooter as a one-way trip (the same route there and back) from the Kellerwald National Park Center via the Himmelsbreite National Park entrance. The National Park team apologizes for any inconvenience.
Background: Several consecutive heavy rain events have eroded other sections of the Hagenstein Route to such an extent that safe use with electric scooters can currently no longer be guaranteed.

In general it should "AST-Taxi" (call shared taxi) be included in the planning. With the call-to-collect taxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in such high demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - all you have to do is (usually) call in to request a trip up to 30 minutes before the trip. Also consider that AST only operate if no normal buses are running parallel.

The forests in the national park are not used for forestry purposes. Old trees and those at risk of breakage will not be removed. Trees can tip over and branches fall onto the paths. Visiting the national park and using all paths is therefore at your own risk! Please do not go into the forest in strong winds, heavy rain or snowfall.
This disturbs nature
Our natural heritage is protected in the national park. People are guests here. Nature requires special consideration. Therefore, please observe the behavioral instructions.
Nature is severely disturbed by the following actions:

- Do not deviate from the marked paths
- Please be quiet so as not to scare animals
- Do not carelessly dispose of empty cans, bottles and other rubbish in the landscape
- Do not pick plants
- Do not light fires in the national park
- Keep your dog on a leash so that he doesn't startle any animals
- Park in the designated areas
- Camping is not permitted in the national park. Take advantage of the official offers.
Way markings
You can reach the special features of the national park via the marked hiking trails. Circular trails from the national park's hiking car parks are marked with animal or plant symbols. There are “sign trees” with place names at selected crossroads. They are landmarks for the hiker.
Rescue points
The official rescue points (e.g. KB-426) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site in the national park. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point. Unfortunately, the cell phone network is not comprehensive.
Liability
No liability is assumed for the accuracy of the information in the text and maps.
