Germany's first premium city hiking trail shows you the beauties of our city over 9,2 kilometers.
Germany's first premium city hiking trail takes you along the picturesque backdrop of uniquely beautiful historic buildings in the historic old town, leads you past the banks of the Eder River up to the peaks of the densely wooded Goßberg, and thus offers both city and nature experiences paired with extraordinary insights and views:
You can experience pure old town flair in the heart of the historic half-timbered old town around the over 500-year-old 10-towered town hall with a very special weekly market run by the country women every Saturday from 8.30:12.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
High on the castle hill, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the entire city, which seems to lie at your feet. From there, descend into the New Town, where a detour to the courtyard of the former St. Georgenberg Monastery is worthwhile (the monastery museum houses the world's largest exhibition of works by the Frankenberg sculptor Philipp Soldan). The pedestrian zone, with its unique half-timbered ensemble, is the perfect place for a culinary break.
Now it's time to get out of the city and onto the water! Whether at the water park, along the riverside promenade, or along the gentle paths on the other side of the Eder River, the view of the city skyline there is unparalleled!
Enough of the city, it's time to head out into nature through the city forest on the Goßberg to the wildlife park. Free-roaming animals and a wide panoramic view over Frankenberg and the Ederbergland await you. Back in the old town, the Witches' Tower offers a final and new view of the city.
A hiking trail that optimally combines the city's cultural sights with the surrounding nature, virtually blending them together? A hiking trail that starts right at the tourist information office and can be completed in half a day? All of these are criteria required for a premium urban hiking trail, and they have been implemented here. We wish you much enjoyment on the Frankenberger Blickwinkel!
