From the Hanseatic city Korbach This family-friendly former railway line leads to Buhlen am Edersee or vice versa.

The Hanseatic City Korbach, the town of Waldeck and the municipality of Edertal invite you to a tour on one of the most spectacular cycle paths in Hesse. Discover the Waldecker Land on the former route of the Ederseebahn, which once connected the Ruhr area and Amsterdam with the spa town Bad Wildungen The asphalted path runs for about 27 kilometers from the Hanseatic city Korbach to Buhlen am Edersee, passes cool tunnels, deep cuttings, old railway stations, high old railway embankments and bridges with magnificent views, such as the “Selbach Viaduct”.

The average gradient of the entire route is just 2%. This is a fantastic experience, not just for families with children. In addition to the two endpoints of the trail, there are other starting points, for example, in the surrounding villages or at the signposted parking areas. Why not round off your trip with a visit to the historic old town of Korbach with its attractive pedestrian zone or a detour to one of the picturesque villages along the route. Those who have completed the entire route can refresh themselves with a cool dip in Lake Edersee!

Our tip

A loop of Korbach (possibly arrival by train) via Edertal-Buhlen, continue on the Eder cycle path westwards to Herzhausen (short train ride then to Korbach) makes this a great, low-gradient day and circular tour!
