The highlights are clearly the center of the Edersee with the Edertalsperre and the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park.

The ER 3 makes a loop into the surrounding landscape between Edertal-Hemfurth and Edertal-Bringhausen. In the Edertal it follows the Eder cycle path, which is accompanied by the stations of the Ederauen adventure trail. The Eder is considered the cleanest river in Hesse. Gravel banks, rapids and riparian forests are reminiscent of wild river landscapes. At Giflitz, the ER 3 leaves the Eder cycle path and follows the Wesetal educational path to Gellershausen.

The romantic Wesebachtal is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park. Between Gellershausen and Bringhausen, the ER 3 crosses the national park, leads over the Tannentriesch and past the Sauermilchplatz. One of the largest contiguous beech forests in Central Europe is protected here on the 27 km long Edersee. The forests of the 7.500 hectare Kellerwald-Edersee National Park offer unique natural experiences all year round.

The cycle paths/routes sometimes alternate between asphalted, gravel and/or field/forest paths. Very rare, even on roads with little traffic. The cycle paths/routes can be combined as desired (including ferries and ships) and are signposted on both sides. There are also a few combined cycle and pedestrian paths.
