The “must-have-done” tour at Edersee! A beautiful interplay between water and forest. The entire reservoir is circumnavigated.

The marked Edersee cycle route (ER) is an experience for the whole family. The approximately 50 km long tour leads around the deep blue Edersee on partially asphalted paths - the alternation between water and forest makes this tour an unforgettable experience. A large part of the route runs directly along the banks of the Edersee. The Edersee looks natural and is reminiscent of the fjords of Scandinavia. In summer, the clear, clean lake invites you to take a refreshing swim. In late summer, the "Edersee ATLANTIS" emerges from the water. The lake loops surrounded by forest offer oases of quiet relaxation and nature-based leisure activities. The forests of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park and National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) offer magnificent views of the unique lake and forest landscape.

Our tip

The numerous jetties of the Edersee passenger shipping company and the ferries between Asel/Asel-Süd and Rehbach/Scheid offer a wide range of options for different tour designs and stage lengths.

safety instructions

The cycle paths/routes sometimes alternate between asphalted, gravel and/or field/forest paths. Very rare, even on roads with little traffic. The cycle paths/routes can be combined as desired (including ferries and ships) and are signposted on both sides. There are also a few combined cycle and pedestrian paths.

The official rescue points (e.g. KB-428) are entered/marked on the maps and signs on site. If you are injured, you can inform the emergency services (telephone: 112) of the relevant point. The cell phone network is not comprehensive, especially in the national park.

Use of the cycle path/route is at your own risk. If there is strong wind, heavy rain or snowfall, you should not use this cycle path/route!

Since the tour involves quite a bit of elevation gain, children should ideally be fit enough to ride a bike and have completed a cycling proficiency test at school...
