- Destination: Train Station, Bahnhofstraße, 35066 Frankenberg (Eder)
There is a hiking portal directly at the Elisabeth Church in Marburg. This is where the Elisabeth Trail from Eisenach to Marburg ends and where not only the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail begins and ends, but also the BurgwaldPath. Opposite the church portal, the path leads through a narrow alley between the houses up to St. Michael's Chapel, also called "Michelchen," with its pilgrims' cemetery. From here, you can once again clearly see the towers of St. Elizabeth's Church. The path now leads above Marburg and Wehrda through a beautiful wooded area with the Teufelsgraben nature reserve. On the outskirts of Wehrda, you pass two high-rise buildings and quickly enter the mixed forest again. Before reaching Goßfelden, you cross a country road, circle the village, and reach the immediately adjacent Sarnau. In Goßfelden, you should plan a short detour to the Otto Ubbelohde House. The path now continues along the Lahn River to a railway bridge, which you pass under on your way to the Göttingen district. Beyond the village, the path leads uphill into the forest, passing a small pond and reaching Oberrosphe, the oldest village in the Burgwälder region. The lovingly furnished village museum transports visitors back to those bygone days. Shortly after Oberrosphe, the "Am Rienert" vantage point offers a magnificent view of the surrounding hills. Further along, the forest path offers your first glimpse of the Mellnau castle ruins. You will soon reach this beautiful village, and a visit to the castle ruins should not be missed. Beautiful paths take you to the Christenberg, an important site of Hessian history and one of the most popular destinations in the BurgwaldFrom the Waldgasthaus, you have a magnificent panoramic view all the way to the Rothaargebirge. Through the Christenberger Talgrund nature reserve, you reach Münchhausen and soon after, Ernsthausen. BurgwaldThe path passes the villages of Wiesenfeld and Birkenbringhausen at a certain distance and runs close to the Eder River above a steep slope with the striking Eder cliffs made of red sandstone to the Frankenberg district of Röddenau. At the level of a few isolated houses, turn right up a slight incline, cross the railway tracks, and follow the field path past a farmstead to the hiking portal on Schnödeweg on the outskirts of Frankenberg/Eder. The "B11" trail marker leads directly to the train station. From here, you can quickly reach the old town and the Church of Our Lady.
In the historic old towns of Marburg and Frankenberg there are immediately at the beginning and at the end of the Burgwaldto explore the path's enchanted alleyways and romantic corners.
A red B serves as a marking symbol.
