Starting at the church in Helminghausen (Am Weiher 14), the trail leads past the "Alter Gutsgarten" recreation area. Before leaving the village, we turn right towards the shooting range. We then enter the romantic Diemel Valley and follow the river to the rest hut. The path now climbs to the Kahlenberg and the Lauke. There, we walk a short distance along the L800 road, turn back onto the hiking trail at the wayside cross, and reach the next rest hut. From there, there is a fantastic view of the ancient robber baron village of Padberg. The trail continues downhill along the Sauerland Forest Route. At the church path, the landscape opens up, offering a panoramic view of the Diemel Reservoir and the Sauerland mountains. Diemelsee Continuing our hike towards Helminghausen, we follow narrow, historic paths past a beautiful chapel back to our starting point.
