......(from November to March the key for the Kellerburg tower must be picked up from the Battenberg town administration).

The first premium walking trail of the hiking fairytale shows you breathtaking views on its 1 km long journey of discovery.

This varied trail starts in the historic old town of the mountain town in the forest, offers breathtaking views as far as the eye can see, and finally leads you all the way up to the 462-meter-high castle hill. There's plenty to discover along the way—so let's get going!

Located in the heart of the old town, the city's historic town hall, over 300 years old, welcomes you. The city museum in this building showcases the connections between the British royal family and Battenberg and takes you back to the days of the legendary motorcycle races around the city.

The path takes you along the Neuburg - a former hunting lodge and further to the hill from which you can see far into the Ederbergland The Philosopher's Walk now leads to the Castle Hill.

Just a moment ago, you were in the town, and now you're already in the middle of the forest. You pass the Burgberg tunnel; in the 19th century, brownstone was mined in Battenberg.

Follow the shady forest path – magnificent views open up – to the summit of the mountain, where the 17-meter-high tower of the former Kellerburg castle welcomes you. The climb is worthwhile and offers a magnificent panoramic view.

The path now leads you back to the city, which invites you to take a culinary break before you end your walk at the starting point.
