Battenberg (Eder)-Dodenau game reserve

  • Zoo/Animal Park

Game reserve open year-round with forest adventure trail and charcoal burner educational trail.

A visit to the more than 10-hectare game reserve is worthwhile for anyone who wants to experience local nature. Observe fallow deer, red deer, and mouflon up close.

A trip to the wildlife enclosure is especially worthwhile for families with children. The animals are not shy and enjoy being fed. Bags of food can be purchased at the entrance. A children's playground is located nearby, and a barbecue hut invites you to relax and unwind.

A forest nature trail begins directly at the barbecue hut. It complements the Dodenau game reserve, leads through the Jeckenfuß area, partially along the gated fence, and provides insights into the flora and fauna of the local region. Thirteen different information panels invite you to hike along a circular trail. Join Dodi and Jäcki, the game reserve's two mascots, on a discovery tour.

Also in the immediate vicinity of the grill hut is a charcoal burner educational trail, which explains a lot of interesting facts about the charcoal burner trade at 5 stations. There is also a small foam maker.
Guided tours can also be offered upon request.
