Historical site

The oldest house in the city, striking for its stepped gables.

Located in the old town of Frankenberg is the Steinhaus, the oldest house in the town, built in 1240. It is over 20 meters high and boasts a spacious vaulted cellar. It survived the great fire of 1476 and temporarily served as the town hall for Frankenberg's old town. Today, it houses the town library.
