Waldeck Castle
Waldeck Castle is a castle complex dating back to the 11th century, 120 metres above the Edersee. From here, you can admire the unique landscape of the Waldecker LandEnjoy it. Once the ancestral seat of the Counts of Waldeck, the fortress also served as a barracks. In 1734, it was a state penitentiary, later the state archive, the forestry office, and from 1906 onwards, it was used as a hotel. The exhibition "Behind Lock and Key" in the castle's cellar vaults impressively shows visitors everything that happened at this historic site. A particularly beautiful excursion destination is the viewing terrace, which offers a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Edersee.

We recommend traveling by road via the B485 federal highway. You will find various junctions via the bypass road to Waldeck.

Parking lot (car + bus*) at Waldeck Castle. This parking lot is chargeable for cars. A daily rate (cash) can be drawn. The parking ticket is then valid in all other paid locations in the municipality of Edertal and the city of Waldeck!

In general, the “AST-Taxi” (CallSammelTaxi) should also be included in the planning. With the CallSammelTaxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in great demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
