Castle Friedrichstein
- The Hessian Military History Collection displays weapons, uniforms, medals, and paintings from the 16th to the 19th century. Many of the objects were visually impressive status symbols.
- The so-called turcica are also significant: The Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel received this military equipment from the Ottoman Empire as war booty, gifts, or through purchase. The showpiece is a richly decorated audience tent.
- A new permanent exhibition showcases palace rooms in the Empire style. The precious early 19th-century furniture comes from Wilhelmshöhe Palace and the Kassel Residenzpalais on Friedrichsplatz. It is complemented by clothing, ceramics, and paintings.
