Neuburg Battenberg (Eder)

Historical site

Former hunting lodge, now owned by the town of Battenberg and housing the town administration.

The Neuburg Castle was built in 1732 by Chief Forester Karl Johann Philipp Löner von Laurenburg. Until 1768, it served as a hunting lodge for Landgrave Ludwig VIII. It then became the seat of the forestry administration, later the regional court and district office of the Battenberg district. The building served as the forestry office and district court until 1967 and 1970, respectively.

The Neuburg has been owned by the town of Battenberg since 1971 and has been the seat of the town administration ever since.
