The central information and education center is located in the western part of the national park in Vöhl-Herzhausen on Lake Edersee. In addition to exhibitions, a 4D film, and numerous hands-on opportunities, the National Park Center also offers dining and other services.

NEW: The film “Hidden Worlds – Ancient Forest” in the 4D sensory cinema of the National Park Center.

The multimedia exhibition at the Kellerwald National Park Center invites visitors to linger. Artful productions and entertaining exhibits provide extraordinary insights into the wilderness of the Kellerwald. In the “Primal Treasures of the Wilderness” the different habitats of the national park can be experienced from surprising perspectives. In the “WaldWerk” it means turning, pushing, pushing and cranking. The interactive exhibits need active and curious guests who want to discover the nature of the primeval beech forests and their inhabitants. And in the “FilmRaum” a unique 4D sensory film is shown: together with the wildcat you go on a fascinating foray through the wilderness of the national park. There you will encounter hidden worlds and very special forest inhabitants. The National Park Shop invites you to browse and then visitors can explore the nearby national park on exciting discovery tours on their own or accompanied by a ranger.

E-bike rental from April to October: With two electric bikes, a bike tour through the national park or around the Edersee becomes a pleasure even for occasional cyclists. The e-bikes can be tested free of charge in the parking lot. Prices per e-bike and day (10 a.m. to 18 p.m.): €25

E-scooter rental: Less experienced wheelchair users or people with walking difficulties or unsteady gait can rent an electric scooter free of charge from the National Park Center. This means they can independently experience the wilderness of tomorrow in the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park on the nearby Hagenstein route.

Please note that dogs are not allowed inside the building. If you would still like to visit the exhibition without your dog, we have dog kennels available outside. Please ask a member of staff at the ticket counter for more information.

NVV-ServcieTelephone: 0800-939-0800
All connections including "AST-Taxi" (call-and-ride taxi) connections can be viewed in detail via the NVV timetable information - www.nvv.de/fahrplanauskunft
Tip for your smartphone - download the "NVV Mobil" app in the respective app store before the tour!
In general, the "AST taxi" should also be included in the planning. With the call-and-collect taxis, the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in such high demand. Instead of taking the bus, you travel in normal taxis or rental cars. AST taxis also have fixed timetables - you only have to register your travel request by phone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST taxis only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
