to be completed!
After the unification of the Old and New Towns in 1377, it was decided to secure both towns, which were already surrounded by their own walls, with a second, shared wall. This created the double ring of walls. Ramparts and ditches were located between the walls. The inner wall was defended by a battlement, the outer wall by loopholes that still exist today. Numerous towers, some of which have survived to this day, served as defensive bastions for the valiant citizens. Five gates provided access to and exit from the city.
Today, the double ring of walls, along with the two Gothic hall churches, the stone warehouses of the Hanseatic merchants with their characteristic stepped gables, and the historic town hall from 1377 with its Roland statue, are among the best-preserved relics of the medieval town. The interactive city history tour "Between the Walls" is completely new. The name says it all: The 2,1 km circular route leads between the two medieval city walls around the historic old town. The starting point is directly at the Wolfgang Bonhage Museum Korbach. At 10 stations, visitors learn interesting and curious facts about the town's history and explore its many modern facets. KorbachIf you need a break, numerous cafés and restaurants in the old town invite you to linger.

For each stop on the "Between the Walls" circular trail, the app contains additional information, fairy tales and legends from the city's history, and a quiz to answer. If all questions are answered correctly, there's a small surprise at the Tourist Information Center.
