The church bears the name of its patron saint, St. Pancras. It was built at the beginning of the 13th century according to the basic pattern of the stepped churches in the Upland region, with a rectangular nave and a square chancel. The north portal and the northern chancel window are Gothic (around 1300). The south wall was renovated in 1586. The church received its Baroque interior in 1672, and a new tower with a pyramidal roof was built in 1851. In March 1996, after the church tower's roof was replaced, a new steeple ornament was added to the spire.
A crowned male head can be seen on the outside of the northern choir wall. To this day, the meaning of this head depiction has not been clearly established.
The nave is a simple hall. The highlight of the Baroque furnishings is the altarpiece by the Waldeck Baroque artist Josias Wolrat Brützel. The signature "Master Josias Wolrat Brützel Anno 1692" can still be read on the back. The altarpiece depicts an impressive depiction of the Last Judgment. Two twisted columns frame the round-arched altarpiece. The baptismal font is made of sandstone. It bears the Waldeck star in the center panel. Like the pews, it dates from the 17th century. The organ was installed around 1850/1851.
