Katholische Kirche St. Augustinus

St. Augustine's Church was consecrated in 1954 and held its last service on August 30, 1964. It had become too small, and due to high renovation costs, it was decided to build a new, larger church.
 
The current church was consecrated on August 25, 1966; it too bears the name of the great Church Father St. Augustine. The church is shaped like the prow of a ship, and its 40-meter-high tower serves as a landmark.
 
Special features are

• the altar, which consists of a Willingen slate block
  
• the Madonna of Mercy by Ernst Suberg (d. 1987)
• the Christ and St. Anthony icons, created by Peter Jegor
• The Stations of the Cross made of local slate (E. Suberg)
• the Sacrament Tower, which points to the many-gated Heavenly Jerusalem and depicts the "Lamb of God" in the center of the tabernacle door.
  

 The vibrant colors of the windows on the left side are reminiscent of creation, of our Earth, of the land (brown), the vegetation (green) and the water (blue).
In the left windows, red dominates as the color of love and fire (Holy Spirit).
Beneath the organ loft, the blue windows are reminiscent of the water of baptism.
The lid of the baptismal font depicts the Apostle Peter being rescued from the waters by Christ.
