Geo-Information Room "Im Ohl"
Renate Hill is a certified nature and landscape guide and geopark guide for the region Willingen (Upland). Excursions following the footsteps of ancient gold prospectors in the Waldeck Upland, on an underwater volcano, to a medieval Jewish trading post, and to fossil sites are her specialty. She also offers nature walks with collections of wild herbs, medicinal plants, and spices, and offers tips on their use.
In addition, as a storyteller of the Sauerland soul places, she knows how to tell many fascinating and exciting stories about the spiritual power places.
The spiritual place “Eiche im Ohl” is located directly behind her house.
Discover one of the oldest mining regions in the Uplands.
The GeoinfoStube Ohl opens a window into this fascinating past – and tells of mineral resources, volcanoes, early cultures and forgotten paths. It displays gold, iron pebbles, manganese finds and prehistoric tools made from local rocks, tells of the 380-million-year-old volcano near Welleringhausen, as well as of ancient hunting and trading stations.
Ideal for hikers and the curious. Visits by appointment only.

- Sauerland Soul Places – these are cliffs and quarries, churches and mountain peaks, mighty trees and underground grottos, lakes and valleys. 43 locations, spread across the Sauerland hiking villages, were selected because they are particularly impressive and hold special significance for the people in their surroundings. Not only today, but also in earlier times. They touch people emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. They evoke strong resonances. They are places where people hike and where they can unwind. Find themselves. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Be inspired. Gain new insights. Even though each soul place tells its own story, there is one quality that unites them all: vibrant silence.
