Alt-Asel village

Historical site
Ruin
At low water levels, the Eder Bridge, which once connected Alt-Asel and the estate on the south bank, appears. Today, the village of Asel-Süd is located on the south bank.
Before the dam was built, the town of Asel comprised 30 farms and 175 residents. After its evacuation, the village of Asel was blown up by imperial pioneers. A small part of the population settled in what is now Asel-Süd, while others found a new home in Vöhl and the surrounding more agriculturally productive areas.
The 60 meter long, 4-arched Eder Bridge is now the best-preserved structure in the old Eder Valley and reappears when the water level is below 235,10 m. It was built between 1887 and 1890 and is now a listed building. When the water on your access paths has dried up, it can be visited and used by hikers and cyclists to cross the Eder.

Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
