The Bilstein Spring at the Bilstein Cliffs is also known as the Reitzenhagen Spring. Due to the milky flocculent deposits that formed when it was discharged into the Wilde River, the spring was initially called "Molkenstoffel." In 1937, the spring received its current name because the old name was considered derogatory. The first spring tap was tapped in 1705. In 2005, the spring system was technically modernized and a new tap was installed.
