Burgbergstollen visitor mine

Visitor mine

The mine is located on the slope of the castle hill in the center of the town of Battenberg (Eder). From May to September, the mine is open to visitors on the first Sunday of each month.

In Battenberg, brownstone was mined in the 19th century. The mine contains a brownstone vein that has been rediscovered in recent years.
The mine is open from 2 pm to 4 pm on the first Sunday of each month between May and September. The last tour starts at 3:30 pm.
In addition to regular visiting days, the association offers special guided tours by appointment. A highlight for children are the "work parties," which can be booked. Be sure to visit the duck pond as well. The nearby barbecue hut is also available for celebrations and events by arrangement. These facilities are managed by the Battenberg (Eder) Local History and Culture Association. Further information can be found at: Burgbergstollen visitor mine.
