Mountain freedom wave

This quarry is located about 300 m from the “Bergwerk” hiking car park near Bergfreiheit. The rock layers, which are around 300 million years old, are clearly visible here. They have been unfolded by tectonic forces over the ages in a shape reminiscent of a wave. It's rare to see geology so clearly visible.

The “Bergfreiheiter Welle” is part of the Geopark “Grenzwelten".
