The tower was built in 1882 from quarry stone. A spiral staircase leads to the platform, from which there is a magnificent panoramic view in three directions: On a clear day, one can see Waldeck Castle, Weidelsburg Castle, the Hercules monument in the Kassel Mountains, the Hoher Meißner mountain, and the Knüll Mountains.
The Homberg is densely overgrown with old beech trees.
Two circular paths lead around the Homberg: the Lower Homberg circular path W4 and the Upper Homberg circular path W5, on which you can also reach the observation tower.
The “Reinhardshöhe” hiking car park in the town of Reinhardshausen, which is characterized by clinics, is recommended as a starting point for the climb.
