Asel Ferry - Side Asel
Every year starting on Maundy Thursday, the ferry is launched, and crossings are possible again when the water level is sufficient. Since 1921, the Asel ferryman has been transporting passengers across the Edersee to the other shore on dry land. The ferry, with a bow-loading hatch, can carry 11 people with bicycles per trip. If you're cycling around the lake, a shortcut by ferry is a good option.
The ferryman operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday is the ferryman's day off. Outside of these opening hours and in case of bad weather, please call ahead.
The ferry operates seasonally from Easter to October. As every year, the water level of Lake Edersee isn't always deep enough for boating. The ferry can no longer cross when the water level exceeds 233,5 m above sea level.
Here you can Edersee level check yourself.

In general, the “AST-Taxi” (CallSammelTaxi) should also be included in the planning. With the CallSammelTaxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in great demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
