Motorhome pitches are generally only designed for short-term stays of up to two or three nights. Some motorhome pitches also offer sanitary facilities. Unlike pitches on a campsite, these are often simple parking spaces without registration and without fixed arrival or departure times. Setting up tents, including awnings, is not permitted, nor is permanent camping. 

A motorhome pitch is often a completely normal parking lot where overnight stays in motorhomes are permitted. Quite a few campsites also offer pitches for motorhomes outside the actual campsite grounds. A supply and disposal station for fresh water and wastewater, as well as waste bins, are now often standard. Coin-operated electrical connections are also frequently offered, as are information boards, barbecue areas, picnic benches, and public restrooms.
