Far from large tour groups, the castle is visited after dark. Regina guides guests through the castle by candlelight and flashlight. As Princess Christiane's lady-in-waiting, she has a different perspective on the family history—and she knows how to present it in an entertaining way. Princess Christiane was a highly educated woman who bore her husband, Prince Carl of Waldeck and Pyrmont, seven children, six of whom she outlived: Each child provided ample reason for a mother to worry.
The appeal of this themed tour lies not only in the somewhat unusual family history(ies) but also in the castle rooms at night.
Guests should bring their own flashlights.
