Commemoration ceremony "Against Forgetting"

This year, the memorial event “Against Forgetting” will take place at the Jewish cemetery in Eimelrod to mark the November pogroms of 1938. Together with the community Willingen (Upland), the Protestant Association and the Upland School Willingen The victims of National Socialist persecution are commemorated, especially the Jewish citizens who were cruelly attacked and persecuted. The destruction of the synagogue in Eimelrod is also remembered.
Speakers call for historical responsibility and tolerance by taking a stand against forgetting. The names and fates of the Eimelrod Jews will be read aloud, making the commemoration particularly personal. Musical contributions, prayers, and moments of reflection underscore the importance of remembering for the future.
All men are asked to wear a head covering (kippah, hat, cap) in the Jewish cemetery.
