Geopark GrenzWelten
The Geopark GrenzWelten is a geological conservation area covering an area of 3.700 square kilometers in the border region between northern Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia. It was established to preserve and showcase the geological features and natural diversity of our region. The Geopark was officially certified in 2009 and serves the sustainable regional development and geotourism development of the region. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the geological processes, landscapes, and the history of the Earth in this area. Numerous tours led by specially trained Geopark guides are available.
Overall, the Geopark GrenzWelten across five counties:
Waldeck-Frankenberg, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Schwalm-Eder district, Kassel district and Hochsauerland district.
